East/ Cocoro Shabu

Made a mistake and dined at East Restaurant last night.

My overall impression:

1) Unattentive service
2) Terrible food
3) Horrendous value

Our table shared the Shabu offering for two. This was a platter of sliced beef, vegetables and some noodles. The price was an obsene $46. There was not nearly enough food to justify it. Well, maybe the quality was good, you say? Nope. I prefer the spicy broth hot pot at Lao Sze Chuan with its unlimited offerings of fresh seafood, beef, lamb, meatballs, shrimp balls, tofu, bean curd, and veggies. At 15 bucks...its a steal.

Alongside, we also ordered the dragon, spicy scallop, and shrimp tempura rolls. The rice was a tad undercooked, the rolls weren't rolled tightly, and the unagi from the dragon roll was extremely fishy.

Okay, how can you not make a decent bowl of Nabiyaki Udon? The Udon wasn't fresh, seemed like it was straight out of the freezer. The broth lacked any depth and the price was $11.50. On the menu, this item contained the description of "house special...try please!". Funny.

Total bill for 4 came to 140 bucks. I should've called 911 instead of posting this here.

I got robbed.
