Haven't been in this area in a year, and lo and behold Lion Market opens up and there's a lot of good stuff.
Inside the market there's a small complex with a bookstore, Phantasia (soon to open up), and a Taiwanese style English Tea House (wow). And oh yeah, a Sogo Bakery.
Have not been to Red Kwali yet, but near it is a new Chinese restaurant that looks kind of like one that serves hot food that's on steam tables.
Would love to hear reviews on the Taiwanese tea house if anything has been (The restaurant has the name "rose" in it). A quick glance at their menu shows that they serve cooked meals too (rice plates).
Also new to me is a HK style western cafe/restaurant, with the Chinese characters "cousin" in it. Hope their HK style milk tea is good. ;-)
Right in the corner on the other side of the complex is Sushi Yoshi, which I almost dismissed based on the outer appearance of the restaurant. Was relieved to find that it was Japanese run, and had a nice amount of small cooked dishes. Sushi is pretty decent, variety is a little on the short side but overall a a little cheaper than my favorite places. Best of all Yoshi-san makes his own tamago yaki which not many chefs do anymore.
Finally there are now at least four pearl milk tea places in that complex alone. It's getting out of hand...
