Csarda's on Melrose is a such a strange restaurant - it seems to go through cycles of good and bad. At times, it's been an absolute great spot for a weiner schinitzel and a slice of dobos torte or cremeschniten. At other times, it's been completely empty and felt like no one cares what is going on there. I know there have been ownership and chef changes over the years.
Has anyone gone recently especially people who can compare it to its hey days (probably mid 90's)?
Also if so, has anyone had luck getting fresh dobos torte or creme schnitten there? Again this is something that has varied somewhat over time (especially the dobos torte).
