Ducks for the Best Ramen in L.A.

Hi Guys,

I got another for you. There is a little Japanese restaurant in San Gabriel (on the corner of Las Tunas and Muscatel) called Ducks. They are orginally known for their currys, but some of the other items on their menu really out shine the curry (which is also good).

They have some really great items on the menu. My wife and I go there almost every Saturday for lunch. I never get sick of the place and the food is always consistently good. Among my favorites are:

1 - Tonkotsu Ramen (Pork Bone broth noodles)
This is the best broth I've had in LA. I've been to quite a few Japanese noodle houses in LA and the broth is usually too salty or too bland. The broth at Ducks is quite good. Not too salty, with lots of flavor and mouth feel. It is always a very satisfying meal.

2 - Pork cutlet(with curry or as Katsu Don)
I think they have won some some kind of award for their Katsu Don before. This is by far the best Pork cutlet I've ever had. No exgeration. The cut is tenderloin and the batter is light and crisp.

3 - Cold Soba (buckweheat noodles(
Nothing too special here. But the cold soba tastes soooo good on a hot day. The noodles are firm, the sauce is a bit salty, but the dab wasabi makes up for the saltiness.

Things I didn't like - Tarako Spaghetti
