Dublin - Report

Meg & Dave Powell | Oct 8, 200209:37 AM

Just back from a lovely little weekend in the city of Dublin and following recommendations from this very site we settled on dinner at Bang Cafe. Our party of three all agreed the food and service was impeccable. Entrees we went for were, the Roasted Cep, Rocket and Langoustine Salad, and the Thai Fish Cake but the winner without a shadow of a doubt was the Pan Roasted Scallops. Absolutely outstanding. For main course we opted for Medallions Of Beef Fillet and Roast Brill. Find the URL complete with menu and wine list below. Eat here!

As can be expected we also enjoyed the hospitality of several bars too during our stay but we sought out the more discerning ones. On a Friday and Saturday getting into these bars can prove a long and laborious task and your average punter should expect a long wait (fortunately we skipped that problem). Here is a few suggestions...

Cocoon, funky, classy although a little crowded
Dakota, always a safe bet. Accompanying DJ lifted the vibe.
Cafe En Seine - A class above the rest (hence the longest queue)
SPY - simply one of the cooler london lounge bars dropped into the Dublin mix. Even the bar menu and matches scream shoreditch hip.
