dry flakey chorizo not sausage like

In the 80's I had a roommate whose parents lived in Matamoros,Mexico. When they visited they would bring us small white boxes of Chorizo made somewhere in Mexico, I believe Matamoros but am not sure. The box was about twice the size of a deck of cards. The chorizo was in small very thin almost paper like casings maybe an inch long, 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch wide. The Choirzo was Very dry. We would twist the casing and flake it into scrambled eggs and wrap all in a tortilla. Does anyone know anything about this brand of chorizo. I'm not fond of the more sausage like chorizo which is easy to find. Thanks. I've been searching 20 years and just found Chowhound last noc.
P.S. I've posted on several boards. Another chowhound suggested this board. If someone knows where I can get this, please let me know.
