Help with dried soup mix recipes

kokorific | Dec 5, 201502:39 PM     11

My grad student BFF just moved into the dorms at her campus to save money. She has to share a communal kitchen with a bunch of messy undergrad coeds, and is pretty horrified by the state of this kitchen (there's no cleaning staff). She has a microwave, rice maker, and a very small (maybe 1-2 quart?) crock pot set up in her room. Her birthday is coming up, and I'd like to make her some dried soup mixes that she could easily whip up without stepping foot in the actual kitchen. Problem: she's super picky. Very meat and potatoes kind of person. She'll eat mushrooms and carrots, but that's pretty much it in terms of vegetables. All the make-ahead dry ingredient soup recipes I can find have mostly veggies. Do any of you know any recipes that might work for this plan? I'm thinking recipes with beef jerky would work to add protein. Maybe a potato soup? Beef and barley with mushrooms? Something with pasta? I'd love some suggestions!
