Many years ago my aunt had a friend in Fallbrook, CA who made the best dried figs, and gave my aunt a box every Christmas. I think she used Black Mission figs. They were thick, chewy, not too dry, and had a wonderful sweet flavor - a little like tea. They came close to candy. I'm just wondering if any Chowhounds have a recipe like this, since I am planning to plant a Black Mission Fig tree and would like to dry some of the fruit.
