Dragon boat festival

Suzanne | Aug 7, 2004 01:40 PM

Just to set the record straight, there IS some great Chinese food at the Dragon Boat festival. Not alot of stands, but the ones there were were excellent. The two main ones were run by Gum Fung from Flushing, and White Swan bakery (24 Bowery). They both had the chinese "tamales" associated with dragon boat festivals. Gum Fung had a bunch of interesting dim sum and other dishes cooked on site. White Swan had cold stuff. There is also a VIP tent catered by Spicy & Tasty, if you can finagle you way in (they're pretty strict.)

The food area is located over the bridge from the boathouse on the Northern part of the lake, more or less where BBQ-NYC was set up. Its easy to miss, but worth looking for. They will be there tomorrow also (Sunday).
