DPD saga continues: now Lu Lu Sushi

Gary Soup | Sep 17, 2005 10:52 PM

Not long ago DPD at Jackson and Kearny seemed to be emerging from its latest moulting season as a Chinese-Japanese Teppan joint, with a new sign and new menus. I never saw it open, if it indeed opened at all, and suddenly the place was vacant and under remdeling again.

Today when I ventured by it, new owners were preparing to open it at 5:00 tonight as "Yokohama Japan Lu Lu Sushi." They actually had made the effort to give it new, more welcoming look and the new overhead signage is entirely in Japanese (with the cursed vestigial "DPD" moniker finally gone).

I picked up a takeout menu. It has 74 items, mostly in sushi/sashimi categories, but being a sushi idiot myself I can't judge the selections or the pricing.

I wished the couple well and exhorted them to defeat the Curse of DPD.
