downtown food carts

several years ago i found a great recipe for grilled escarole with cannelini beans. it turned out to be a delicious and hearty treat. the white beans were tossed with lemon zest, salt, pepper and olive oil. the escarole itself was quartered, brushed with lemon, olive oil, and lots of salt and pepper and then in my case not grilled, but seared on a blistering hot cast iron skillet. while enjoying this newfound delectable i wondered aloud, 'maybe i should start a downtown grilled escarole and white bean cart.' i was invisioning lunchtime crowds lining up at my cart to purchase a quarter head of escarole topped with a spoonful of cannelin beans nestled into a paper cone. everytime i make this dish i revisit this fantasy. i am wondering if anyone knows the laws regarding selling food on the street. i don't know that legal permission would push me into this endeavor but i am curious. it seems that here in san francisco food street vendors exist only in certain neigborhoods.
