Dow Thong Thai in Astoria (long)

Ok, I'll admit I was pretty much a Thai food virgin before I tried this place. Loved all other Asian cuisines, but never really tried Thai. So when Dow Thong opened a few months ago, around the corner from our place, my fiance and I decided to try it. And we really like it. We both like spicy, but it isn't a deal breaker for us, we both have Eastern European in our parentage, lol.

Anyway, on to Dow Thong. The Curry Puff and Shumai appetizers are great. Neither is spicy, but very flavorful, each served up with a flavorful dipping sauce. We always order the Pad See Ew (we've only had it with chicken), it's definitely yummy, tho the chicken has been a tad dry a couple of times. We've also tried the Gai Spices, Garlic Chicken, Hor Mok Talay, Pad Prik Sod, and the Seafood Combo, all of which were good to very good. (with vaying degress of spice, from barely mild, to some decent heat)

Now, perhaps, being the unseasoned Thai food eaters that we are, and having never been to Sri, we are just grossly underqualified to judge good Thai. I supsect most of you will think so. But, if you live nearby, perhaps give this place a try, and let us all know what you think?

P.S. They used to be BYO, but I believe they have since acquired their liquor licence. The last 2 times we had the food delivered. The service inside is passable, with well-meaning English-challenged waitresses. The delivery is quick and neat. Prices are pretty low.
