I had a quick lunch Saturday at Douzo, it was enjoyable, and definitely the best Japanese within walking distance of my South End base. At least until Oishii opens in the South End this summer!
My question is this - has anybody tried any must have dishes here, unique or so well executed as to be distinctive.
For example, I had a torched Salmon Belly Sushi which was pretty good - I would order it again.
I also had a Spicy Scallop hand roll which was excellent. The Squid Sashimi with Tobiko was more like Tobiko garnished with squid - disappointing.
One thing they feature which I LOVE - the had it at Nobu - was a la carte tempura. One can order (and I did) two pieces of eggplant tempura if one so chooses, or shrimp, or squid, I really like this concept, and the eggplant tempura was very nice - much nicer than my companion's shrimp...which was way too bready.
