Last night I stopped for dinner at Dorothy's Kitchen (1906 Eastern Parkway, corner of Herkimer) which I have been passing for a year. Got some tasty though extremely fatty (I am not a lardophile!) pork ribs done in what I assume is the North Carolina manner (very tender, sauce not at all sweet), very nice collards, peas and rice, good cornbread (not too sweet and actually tasted of cornmeal) and an extremely peculiar "mustard potato salad" which seemed to me 1 part sliced egg to 1 part chunked potato to 1 part mustard to 3 parts mayonnaise.
I am not at all an aficionado of soul food and so I wondered if there were any chowhounds out there who have been to Dorothy's or who have some guidelines I can follow when I make my next stop. (Other menu items include oxtail, beef ribs, bbq chicken, turkey wings (?), chopped bbq, cabbage, corn/tomato/okra, baked macaroni, and "Preachers Fried Chicken." (plus specials)
