Best donuts in LA, top this

I've got a place near home but am interested in other places in case I'm out of town or get the urge to try something new.

My place is Polly Ann's Bakery in San Pedro. They make donuts but don't make a big deal about it, they're more about cakes, danish and breads. Well their donuts rock. First of all the dough is more like a bread dough -- good flavor and texture. Then there's the frying oil or lack there of. Ever had a donut you keep burping up later? The burp up isn't donut taste it's rancid oil taste isn't it. Well that doesn't happen here.

The sugar on the sugar twists is a little finer than most conventional donut shops. Their best donuts are:

Sugar twist
Glased (raised not cake!)
Lemon filled with sugar coating
Raspberry filled with powder sugar coating
