One of the few good things about winter, besides meaningful football games and snow days, is the arrival of clementines from Spain. I usually see those wooden boxes with the orange netting on sale beginning around Thanksgiving. This year retailers seem to be more interested in marketing domestically grown varieties. I bought some Halos a few weeks ago and they were sweet but dry. I also have bought Cuties but neither are as good as a true Spanish Clementine, IMHO. My regular supermarket has these Clementeenies (sneaky?)which I'm unfamiliar with. Do you think it has been a poor/late growing season in Spain or are the domestic producers tired of giving away this business and they are making grocery stores offers they can't refuse?
