Cleveland Park has an exciting new Uyghur restaurant in the old Sorriso space at 3518 Connecticut Ave NW. The menu is huge and the food is delicious, reasonably priced, and on point. Dishes are better and more generously portioned than at Queen Amannisa in Crystal City.
We had the stir-fried special noodles (fantastically chewy homemade noodles with peppers and onions in a brown sauce with hints of garlic, sesame, and ginger), chuchure (meat-dumpling soup in clear broth with chickpeas, tomato, and cilantro), and a lamb kebab (rich and crispy, seasoned heavily with cumin, chili, salt, and pepper). They brought us a dish of candied walnuts on the house due to a slight mix-up and are eager for feedback and reviews. The menu is wide and varied with lots of foods that will be familiar to fans of Soviet-bloc, Central Asian, and Chinese cuisine. I highly recommend stopping by!

Today was only their second day open, and business was steady. I am betting it will be a popular neighborhood restaurant that may also attract diners going out of their way across the area.
