after reading so many raves about this place(but most from a few yrs ago) we ordered MANY things tonight and here is my experience, progressing from 'apps' to desserts(all dishes had generous amounts of food):
A19 fried chicken turnovers- strangely sweet, boring filling// A7 grilled pork, nice simple soy glaze flavor//steamed vegetable dumplings: tasty crunchy filling but molasses-like sweet sauce not to my liking// V1 sauteed eggplant- simple, clean flavors //
C1 Panang duck-good flavor but duck too well done, sauce on the thin side(i prefer the penang duck at sweet chili in arlington center)// CK15 deepfried soft shell crab claws- moist,crunchy,tasty. red curry dipping sauce good but i preferred the tangy lime sauce that accompanied the squid salad; Y3 squid salad- bright lime dressing, clean and light, good summer dish// Pad Kee Maow w/ beef- exc spicy flavors
and chewy noodles, small amount of beef//N2Pad siew w/
chicken- chewy noodles w/ tons of chicken, crunchy chinese broccoli, good but needed spunk(next time will ask for thai basil to be added - then it will taste like the exc. thai basil beef udon at sweet chili)//
taro in coconut cream- small chewy Taro flavored mochi-like rice flour?dumplings in coconut cream- fun to eat and delicious//sweet rice with duran- not very distinctive//pumpkin custard- exc. flavor but baked at too high a temp, causing the custard to be rubbery, with lots of holes, instead of smooth and creamy// taro 'souffle' topped with ginkgo nuts- really just mashed taro- not as good as the first dessert i mentioned.
