I'd heard that they were losing their lease and have wanted to try their lobster roll.
It seems that, in Austin, only Perla's has lobster rolls on their menu (they are fantastic but very pricey). I had one for my birthday earlier this year and loved everything about it... the sweet lobster meat, touch of mayo and butter and something more, either chives, scallions or perhaps tarragon. However, at $28 it doesn't make sense for me other than special occasion.
So I heard about Dock and Roll, maybe here on Chowhound, and that they are losing their lease (for more info see their FB page). A friend and I decided to give them a try last Friday and we are so glad that we did. We each had the Maine Event (Lobster Roll) and shared an order of home made tater tots.
The tots were great... and I'm not a tater tots fan... they were very crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, I believe served with some sort of chipotle ketchup... YUM!
And then there's the Lobster Roll... it was wonderful... cold, sweet lobster, little bit of mayo and butter and chives... if I had to select between the one at Dock and Roll and the one at Perla's (without price in the mix) I'm not sure that I could. They both taste wonderful. They are simple, perfect and delicious. $28 or $12.
