Dives website – Neto, Juanita Juanita, Swiss Park. more

I found this amusing website. The search doesn’t work at all, so you will get all Bay Area dives no matter which pull down menu you select.

It says Silicon Valley, but it covers more than that. It has Berkeley, Sonoma (Juanita, Juanita) and even Half Moon Bay – one of my favs – Flying Fish Grill. It is primarily the Silicon Valley area though.

It is sorted from best dives to worst. Four dives is a place you want to eat. One Dive, beware. There is even a dive heaven section at the very end for places that no longer exists but are not forgotten. This seems to be an updated website because there is a dive heaven entry for 2005

Someone mentioned Neto Sausage Company’s Tuesday and Friday BBQ. It seems popular and they BBQ more than sausages.

I think I may have asked about Swiss Park in Newark. When I was staying in the area I was always intrigued but never made it to the week day lunch when it was open to the public, This place, open since 1935, is in the middle of strip malls but has a full picnic area according to this site and serves a ‘grill-based menu of Linguisa, Bratwurst, Polish, or Berbgers.” Beer is available. Anyone tried it?

Some of the one star dive descriptions are funny like Delfin - a.k.a "Microwave Mexican"

For one cheese steak place that lots of former East Coast people love, he says “To us, the measure of good food is not whether it reminds you of your childhood, but whether it tastes good, is cheap and is served in a place that doesn't have to hide from the health department” Needless to say, he didn’t like the place.
