Dish @ Desiree ... Planatos Yucatan small plates

Inside Scoop was interesting today.

Has anyone tried Dish in the Presidio in the old Desiree spot?

There are mentions of other possible restaurant openings including one by the owner of Walnut Creek's Va de Vi. I don't know how snobby I can get but somehow the thought of Walnut Creek food invading SF ... shudder.

I was more excited about seeing something IN PRINT about a farmers market opening at the Presidio, but was let down by the fact that a few of the vendors are exploring the possibility. They've been exploring the possiblity of a market at the Presidio since the move to Ferry Plaza. Sigh. This is the first spin on the idea though with an all day market and a checkout stand.

Info about the April 8th opening of Guerrilla Cafe which is moving into Smoky Joe's on Shattuck in Berkeley.

Looks like Yucatan cuisine is going upscale at Plantanos. Who would have thought you could do a Yucatan food crawl in SF with Plantanos, Mi Linda Yucatan, El Yucateco, Yucatasia and possibly Tommy's.

Not sure when Mother's Day is this year, but starting May 21st Harry Denton's Starlight Room will have a drag brunch ... perhaps better for Father's day? Second seating of brunch will include a carving station.

What's New has info about Epicurious Garden.

Yesterday Kirila was selling bento boxes at 50% off. For some reason that seems wrong. The Tuesday soup ... Thai Chicken ... is one of Soop's better offerings. The chicken noodle is good too. They have a separate pot of house-made (?) noodles that they put in the bottom of the container and then spoon the soup on top which has lots of veggies an chicken. Excellent on a cold, rainy day.

My own little coming soon preview ... Taxi-Brousse is opening in Berkeley in the old spot of the kebob place on San Pablo Avenue. A Taxi-Brousse is a bush taxi in Africa, so it might be something interesting ... hard to tell ... could be just another coffee shop. Interesting name though.
