Dinner this Monday, where I could get a table--1st trip to NO

Denis | Apr 26, 200603:16 PM

I've gotten some good-sounding lunch-type recommendations from this board, and a dinner's been planned for Sunday at Palace Cafe by my colleagues (we're staying at the Hilton Riverside), but I have Monday night free, and my wife's strongly urging me to be sure to make it worthwhile, even though she won't be joining me--her more limited tastes have frequently been stymieing my more adventurous palate lately, and she's thinking I should take this solo trip to NO to satisfy my frustrated gustatory desires. I'm reluctant to post without having done substantial research in advance, but I feel like I'm already behind the eightball about getting a spot at someplace good.

So I turn to you. I don't know what places might be open on Monday, where I might be able to get a table at this late date, or what places are overrated. As for party size, it could be just me (hope that's not too un-social for New Orleans), or it could be 4 or 5 people. As for location, I'm willing to take a reasonable cab ride, but won't have a car.

Any thoughts would help.
