Dinner at the Green Room

I spent my high school years in Dallas, and faced a week here on business with some doubts about what I remembered as a fairly unadventurous dining scene.

I can say I was happy about the meal at the Green Room (in edgy Deep Ellum) as well as the lively crowd, and the management's efforts to make me feel comfortable as a woman dining alone -- even holding my table for me when my cab was a little late.

I had Loup de Mer (could have been sea bass) on pesto basmati with a creamy white peach sauce (mayonnaise?). Very good, especially since I wasn't at home in the SF Bay Area. The spicy side of Kale with red onions and balsamic vinegar was very good (if a little heavy on the pepper/vinegar to really pair with the entree -- but it was the only way to get a green vegetable!)

The un-oaked Australian chardonnay tasted better at the beginning of the glass then at the end. Why was that, I wonder? No second glass for me, anyway.

I'm going to try and save barbeque for later in the week.
