In a word - WOW.

My two dining companions and I arrived right on time for our 9:15 reservation at Craft this past Friday night. We were seated immediately (always a good start).

The decor was modern and classy, formal yet comforting.

My best friend and I split the octopus and the sweetbreads as our appetizer. My only regret is that, due to my excitement about the sweetbreads, we endulged in those first which made the octopus pale in comparison. Anyway, I was well aware that the sweetbreads at Craft are known as one of the best (if not THE best) in the city. That is a lot to live up to, however my expectations were met above and beyond. I mean, really, how do they fit all that flavor into a bite? : ) They were served roasted with a pumpkin reduction.

One of my companions has several severe food alleriges and our server was very helpful in steering her towards items that she could eat - always appreciated.

For my entree, I ordered fish but I absolutely cannot remember the name of it! I believe it started with a C(?) Anyway, it was braised in an aged soy sauce and served with porcini mushrooms. I also sampled the scallops (courtesy of my best friend) which were equally delicious.

As a side we ordered Jerusalem artichokes, which were served with a lemon puree. These were amazing and had a wonderful caramel flavor to them, due to the roasting process.

For dessert we had the doughnuts which, honestly, were a little sub par. Then again, I was comparing them to those from Hearth, which, in my mind are absolutely sublime.

Including a total of 6 cocktails, one glass of dry white wine and one dessert wine, the bill before tip came to approximately $260.
