After reading the many reviews of places to eat (or not) I ended up eating at Bibiche Bistro at 2326 Queen East which had been mentioned a few times in various threads. Like many people I find an empty restaurant more of a warning than a "well at least we won't have to wait" reaction. So as we entered I was wondering if working outside the box was going to be a good idea. Turns out it was a great idea. The food was a solid 8. I had a wonderful steak (which i couldn't finish) and my dining partner had fish which she described as "wonderful" both came with spiced rice and red cabbage with sauteed onion and apple. We both started with salads, I had an wonderful salad with fresh baby lettuce, pear, strawberry and blueberries with walnuts and a wonderful vinaigrette. My partner had a artichoke salad which she said was great and I can agree as I had some. We shared Bread -pudding for dessert, (we couldn't finish it ) it came with melted dark chocolate and maple syrup...AMAZING. But the best part of our evening was our host. He and his business partner have been in business for twenty plus years (were on the Danforth for many years) and seem to have a figured out how to serve a good meal with fabulous service at a reasonable price. Those three things are some times hard to find in the city.
