A San Francisco chowhound here. My company is having a big off-site meeting in Princeton, NJ, and need a place to take everyone for dinner, probably in Philly (food in jersey?!). ~35 people, ~$35 a head.
Many of our employees are Chinese or Indian, so while all suggestions are appreciated, I don't want my folks to be terribly disappointed in "the best" Chinese or Indian of Philly when they can get far better at home. We've also got a good handful of vegetarians to keep in mind as well.
I've been searching your board, and it sounds like Serendipity is well liked, even though 'the pad thai isn't actually pad thai'. Can they handle a party our size? What about Paradiso? That seems very well liked, but how are the prices? Vegetarian options?
Other people like La Croix, but it does sound outside our budget. What's up with La Terrasse? I see a passing reference, but no details. Positive and negative reviews for White Dog, too.
We're also not used to smoking in restaurants, that having been banned here over a decade ago. We'll deal with it, but it would be great if there were less-smoky places.
So, thoughts anyone? If one of the above mentioned is the way to go, just let me know!
PS what's a BYOB? That seems to be a good thing?
