I'm on a roll this weekend. 3 new places and 3 winners (Spice Table, Komodo and ....). Nha Trang restaurant in Monterey Park. I've added them to my shortlist of Vietnamese restaurants in SGV.
This place sits about 15 people and feels like you are eating in somebody's home with the Aunties making you a bowl of home cooked noodles. To fit their tiny restaurant, they have a tiny menu. My wife asked them why they only had about 10 dishes and they said they only want to make something if it could be the best. I like their thinking.
My wife had the Bun Bo Hue and I think it is one of the best versions in SGV and right up there compared to Little Saigon. I had the My Quang and it was fantastic. Since it was so cheap (our noodles were less than $6 per bowl) we split a fish cake banh mi, which I thought was pretty good. They also had a "Dac Biet" Iced Tea and a variety of smoothies.
No rice cakes, no egg rolls, spring rolls.... Just really fantastic noodles.
The ladies running the place were very sweet. Again, I felt like my wife's Aunties were cooking a home cooked meal. A little bit of a wait since the restaurant was so small, but the service was quick and attentive.
Nha Trang is at 331 E. Valley Blvd. Pretty much across the street from Saigon Flavor
