Dining at House

We ate at House on 9th and enjoyed a great dinner. Our foursome started with appetizers: the oyster/clam combo was very fresh and chilled to perfection. The fried calamari with miso sauce was another hit. The only miss was the crab cake -- too bready with a bland saffron sauce.

I picked a winner with the seabass as my entree -- thanks to Chowhound recommendations. Everyone agreed it was the best we'd tasted, and a little of the wonderful teriyaki sauce went a long way. My friends had Salmon with the miso sesame glaze and duck breast in a sweet sauce. They both enjoyed their dinners but everyone lusted after my seabass. The better half had the special; a flank steak w/ barbacue sauce and mashed potatoes. Heavy but good.

For dessert, the chocolate bread pudding was another hands down winner. Coconut creme brulee was good and the chocolate torte cake was very dense but tasty.

Service was good. We went early 5:30 and got a great table.
