Been a-hankering for good diner breakfast.
Now before you get all fired up with the Bluegrass Brunch at Urban Solace or the fancy-schmancy boo-fay at some hoity-toity place, remember I am likely familiar with those places. And you Beach, I don't want to hear about The Pony Club or Veladora.
I'm looking for a real diner-style breakfast that includes well-cooked grits.
And let me stop you right there- see I just know you're dying to post about Rudford's and Studio Diner. Studio is just that- like Disneyland- it's all fake. And Rudford's is the Real (not reel ha!) Deal. But I went to Rudford's yesterday, took forever to get my eggs and sausage and when she tossed down the plate without grits, she told me "we're outta those". So there I was, hot breakfast in front of me, not willing to pay the send-back time penalty (and risk of kitchen revenge) so I ordered a side of room-temp hash browns, which arrived shortly after finishing my eggs and tepid sausage.
Is it too much to ask? A cozy-ish diner (not that awful food factory Perry's, either!) where one can reliably get a few sunnies, some bacon/sausage and good grits?
My normal boundaries apply, except I'll extend the eastern boundaries to include the portions of San Diego/Phoenix/Metro up to Highway 67.
