Dine Around - Fringale

La Bouche | Jan 22, 2002 03:36 PM

My husband and I went to Fringale to check out the Dine Around promotion. I was extremely dissapointed. The prix fixe menu offered could have been put together using the a la carte menu for the same amount of money or even a little less -- so there was absolutely NO bargain.

The offering included a small calamari salad (served on a bread & butter plate) for the appetizer (good), pasta with pine nuts, roquefort & pine nuts (ho-hum), and a lemon torte (too puckery sour). The regular pasta on the a la carte menu would have been $14.00, the desserts are all $6.00, so doing the math -- that makes the salad $10 (other appetizers ranged in the $8.00 to $9.50 for something comparable).

If you ask me, it doesn't add up. What a gip! I don't know about any of the other places -- but this Dine Around promo appears to be nothing more than a bait & switch tactic.

The only nice thing I have to say about the dining experience at Fringale is that the service was excellent.
