Dragged Low End Theory and two of his buddies to this place and it was worth the long ride (esp. since I wasn't driving *grin*).
Extremely pleased with their renditions of xiao long bao (both pork and pork/crab). They're appropriately small, with just the right amount of soup within. The wrapping is thin but firm, which was quite lovely and interesting texturally, even if it wasn't as delicate as I had expected. Perhaps I should try the xiao long tang bao on my next trip, which the menu mentions as only available on weekends. Still, very good craftsmanship -- note the precise folds that make up the topknot on these xlb and other dumplings.
Also a good version of sitr fried shanghainese rice cake. Nice wok flavour.
Fish dumplings aren't as common as they should be, and fish dumplings this good are rarer still. the wrapping is slightly (and appropriately) thicker in these quenelle-shaped dumplings. I loved the tender, milky fish, lightly piqued with tiny green curls of what I thought were chopped scallions.
