Dim Sum for New Year's

tdonline | Feb 7, 2008 04:58 PM

LA native now living in dim sum-poor Washington DC. I'll be coming up this weekend and have plans to celebrate the New Year with friends with a dim sum on Sunday. What are the very, very best options? My friend has suggestions, which I've posted below. It's gibberish to me, but maybe for the locals, it may sound familiar. She usually has great taste, but I'm double checking here as dim sum is not her strong point.

"I've been to several places, and they've all been good. --none of them really stuck out for me though. I don't remember the names, only where they are. I remember one is named Golden Unicorn on East Broadway and Catherine. There's also several on Mott Street. And there's one on the Bowery. Actually there's also Dim Sum a-go-go near Golden Unicorn, but that one is a bit more touristy."

Also, what time does it usually get crowded at NYC dim sum places? In LA, 11ish on the weekends is the norm.
