Dim Sum at the Grand And Alice's on College

After reading so many positive reviews of the dim sum at The Grand Dynasty at the Double Tree hotel, I finally went there for lunch last week.
It was great except for a few dishes like the pumpkinn ribs with black beans....too garlicky. The egg custard tarts were divine and melted in my mouth. So delicate.

Too bad the place looks so foo foo...fussy like a wedding room with those big bows on the chairs. The tables were too large for 2 people but roomy for 4. The staff were very attentive and friendly but started to hover near the we chatted well past the lunch hour over our tea.
I will definitely return.
Thanks for tips everyone.

And to a completely different experience and part of town, I recently dined at Alice's Bistro on College. The food was good, solid though not fantastic by any means. The room had a good buzz. Nice crowd. The service was fine, backwards a bring coffee without cream n sugar or and mixing up wines and plates.
The thing that really, REALLY turned me off were the grungy toilets! UGH!
I knew, as I was heading down the stairs that it was gonna be bad. Even the stairs looked dirty! the floors with those ugly, dingy tiles looked like they hadn't been washed in months. If the washrooms aren't nice...well one wonders what else goes on there.
I am sorry but nice fresh clean washrooms say everything about your place.
And so tiny! No wonder they had louvered doors for the cubicles as a normal sized person cannot fit in those stalls. They should then make the washroom into one large single toilet , not 2 eensy weensy stalls no one can turn around in let alone shut the door. So dumb!

Though I enjoyed my meal........but not sure I'd go back.
