The last thread on dim sum I could find was well over a year old, so I'm curious where dim sum lovers feel they can find the best of late.
Francois Payard (chef-owner of Payard Patisserie) had recommended the 900-seat NEW SILVER PALACE (Bowery at Canal) to us, but we'd hesitated when we'd heard it referred to elsewhere as "the WalMart of dim sum."
Never fear. We ate there yesterday and had perhaps the best dim sum we've ever tasted in Manhattan, with certainly the broadest range of dishes (including some we'd never seen before). Their dumplings filled with garlicky greens were so good we ordered a second round!
If there's better dim sum in NYC, I want to try it!! (I don't always have the patience to wait for our next trip to San Francisco to eat at Ton Kiang or Yank Sing....)
