Does it make much difference to flavor if I substitute vegetable broth for chicken broth?

I have a few vegetarians who attend our annual Thanksgiving dinner and in the past I've substituted vegetable broth for chicken broth in my side dishes without giving it much thought. I came across a recipe for Balsamic Glazed Cipollini with Lemon and Bay leaves in Food & Wine that sounded good which got me to thinking, am I missing out by substituting veggie broth for chicken broth in this recipe and all the others I've made in the past or are they interchangeable?
