This very good Chinese restaurant on 8th Avenue and 61st Street in Brooklyn has lately installed three or four huge television screens that are always on and that make it extremely difficult to focus on the often great food. The owner says that some people like to watch TV when they eat. I find it hard to believe that customers came up to them asking them to install the TV's, but you never know. At least the airlines give you head phones if you want to watch the movie that's playing, and the Metropolitan Opera gives you a choice about sub titles.
In any event, just another example of how media is becoming increasingly intrusive every where we go.
