Diamond Dog, I tried Lee's Bakery for lunch . . .

I didn't really like the sandwich I ate but will go back.

I got there about 2:30 and the place was still packed. Waited in line to order my #11 combination, iced coffee with sweetened, condensed milk and pastry. I waited patiently while watching the fascinating little machine make "cream filled cakes". I must have looked curious because the young girl tending the machine gave me one to taste -- a two-bite size poundcake sort of thing with a custardy filling. Interestingly, they are baked in molds to look like tiny ears of corn.

I really didn't care for the coldcuts in my sandwich, and the slices of raw jalapeno were a surprise. Another time I will try something else as a filling. I thought DD said there was a beef sandwich, but I didn't see that on the board. The coffee was utterly delicions. (Alas, no scantily clad, lovely young man served it, but it was good, all the same!)

The tab? $4.79 for a 10" sandwich (not as huge as it sounds. As DD described it's made on a slender, very good baguette), coffee and pastry!
