My wife and I dined at the FC BBQ in Plano on Friday night and found it to be 1) mroe crowded than the Carrollton location 2) food was not quite as good as Carrollton and 3) lots of people ordering "Sesame Chicken" or "Orange Beef". We ordered a menu that consisted of Chinese broccoli with Chinese mushroom, spicy fried tofu (same cooking technique as crispy shrimp), and steamed fish over tofu. I would say the Chinese broccoli with Chinese mushroom was the most consistant, the spicy fried tofu (on the specials menu written in Mandarin? but translated on the menu) was a new dish to try but similar to another we have had, and steamed fish was a bit lacking in flavor depth and the pices of fish (cod or similar mild white fish) were smaller than the Carrollton location. Does anyone else have the same views. I still have yet to try the Arlington location....if I am in Richardson there are other diversions (i.e. King Noodles, Afrah, Kirin Court, Jeng Chi). I have also heard that the service in Richardson is hit or miss. If you have any views about one of the locations please give specifics (what you ordered, what you liked/didn't like, why you rave about it).
I like the Carrollton lcoation 1) not noisy and don't have to shout at the person across the table 2) one waitress - Lisa (enough said), in fact all of the waiters/waitresses are very helpful in Carrollton 3) cooks I think are better in Carrollton or they have more time to focus on flavors 4) closer to Lewisville, always a plus 5) never hear anyone ordering "Sesame Chicken" 6) special menu written in Mandarin? is not translated so you feel special asking the waiter what the special is. Overall Carrollton is the kind of Chinese diner place, if there was such a thing, that the wait staff know who you are and that you like to try new things that show off the restaurant. If you had a inclination to go back to some favorites though they won't get mad!
