Desperately seeking veal tongue snacks

Canchito (J. DiStefano) | Jun 24, 2002 10:36 AM

A few weeks ago my compatriot, The Rogue, grabbed some snacks from Monya & Mishas a venerable European/Russian deli on 108 St. (64th Ave.?) in Rego Park. Among the victuals was miniature smoked veal tongue. It was kind of chewy and blackish on the outside, but very creamy and rich when sliced. He swears to me that when he was there that day there was a heap of them on the counter. I've been back there three times since, all to no avail. I'm starting to think I imagined the whole thing!

If anyone else has partaken of this delicacy and knows where to get it, please let me know? I've been to several other local stores, only to be pointed to the larger tongue cold cut.

Eat on,

Canchito
