mr dennehey's......way more than a classy pub

I've had the pleasure of being at Mr Dennehey's twice for dinner and once again for more guinness and bar snacks - and I look forward to going back very soon. It's kind of an upscale irish bar yet with a dining room, on the new restaurant row that is carmine street - 63 carmine between bedford and seventh av. Don't be fooled by the irish bar motif - this is no blarney stone.

Apparently the guinness is excellent, my standards are not as sophisticated as tasted great but was also well lauded by those who actually have a guinness palate. The food I understood completely - I had an excellent salmon in a citrus sauce over a sweet pea/lox risotto, friends had the chicken, the steak, crabccakes - all meriting my same response. Delicious desserts, not sure if those are made in house or not, not that it matters. Several pleasant wines by the glass and the list will be expanding so good beer isn't the only possibility.

A small dining room, but also a few tables in the bar area, fairly new and undiscovered (as yet), absolutely comfortable but sweetly elegant. Truthfully, I'd prefer it to stay a hidden treasure but I'd also like them to exist so I've finally come forth....
