I love that place; dining on the second floor, I'd never know that I was half a block from Canal Street. Italian bread comes with tomato basil flan spiced with hot pepper in a pool of olive oil. I had a glass of Chardonnay and the garganelli cacio e pepe, delicious homemade penne rigate-like pasta with a luxuriant amount of melted pungent sheep's milk cheese with lots of fresh pepper. I finished with bittersweet chocolate cake dusted with lots of cocoa, and a double espresso.
