In Deland - Brians BBQ

Chuck | Sep 4, 200204:39 PM

If any of you Hounds are in the Deland area (Rt 15) you might want to try Brian's BBQ. the place has been in business 15 years and it was packed at lunch. To me, its a step up from Sonny's BBQ - a bit better quality, larger portions, and more reasonable prices.

Normally, when I order St. Louis ribs, they are from a "3 and Down" slab meaning only that the entire slab of ribs weighs less than 3 lbs. Anyway, I got 3 of the biggest St. Louis ribs I have ever had in my life and they were very good - virtually fat free and yet very tender. No, they don't fall off the bone nor are they smoked long enough to my liking (that's why I compare the place to Sonny's) but they were prety darn good. The quality of their ribs, like Sonny's, was excellent. Their sides, the garlic bread, was good, the cole slaw was excellent and the beans were good.

The service in this place, normally not a big priority with me, was wonderful. These people know how to run an operation down to the personalized napkin sized wet naps. The place was immaculate with a waitress assigned to constantly monitoring their salad bar.

Hey, if you are in the area, I say stop in. You could do a lot worse. There were several news articles posted on their walls about the owner so perhaps he's well-known in the BBQ industry?
