I first stumbled upon Del Valle Paleteria in January 2014. New owners had just taken over and introduced the new name. At the time, it sold ice cream and paletas made by Las Michoacanas in Soledad, and had ambitions of bringing production in-house in the near future. I enjoyed a raspado flavored with housemade fruit syrup and an agua fresca for the road.
Last month I had a chance to return to Del Valle. While it's not yet producing the paletas in-house, the source has changed to "Santa Maria". I bought a selection to take home and try over a few days. I can say that the paletas are top-notch, enjoyed each and every one of them. The photo above is the mixed fruit in a coconut milk base.
Del Valle is a stone's throw from the exit off Hwy 101 and well worth a stop when you're in this neck of the woods.
