Seven of us did the 5 course tasting menu last Friday night and it was amazing. One of us was gluten free and that posed no problem whatsoever. I really liked that we each could choose our own antipasto, secondo and dolce courses individually while the table choose two pastas to share.
First of all the service and ambiance was perfect. Staff was there when we needed them but absolutely not overbearing. Of course the knowledge level from each was great. We asked about getting a tour of the kitchen after dinner and they were happy to accommodate us. Kitchen is spotless and smaller than I would have expected. A quiet calm dedication oozed over us as we went through it.
The lobster alla cesare was a wonderful starter. I expected more of a salad presentation but was very pleasantly surprised by a wonderful butter poached piece of lobster presented with two small romaine leafs on top with perfect sauce. My son had the truffled beef carne cruda, it might have been better than my lobster but they're so different it's hard to compare. Both amazing.
We did the bauletti and garganelli pastas and we all raved about them.
We had a variety of the main courses and none disappointed. My dessert was the butterscotch semifreddo which came off the menu as of Saturday. A perfect ending to an amazing meal.
I'm going back the next time I'm in NY.
