Del Dee Bistro: Incredible pizza, Italian food, and THAI food in Casselberry!

Big Bad Voodoo Lou | Aug 24, 201108:36 PM

I am long overdue in writing a review of one of my new regular spots in the Orlando area: Del Dee Bistro in Casselberry, purveyors of my favorite New York-style pizza in town.

My wife and I have fallen in love with their "Brooklyn" specialty pizza, which is topped with thin-sliced, crispy-fried eggplant and ricotta cheese. The tastes and textures are truly incredible, and I've never been an eggplant fan until we discovered this pizza. We're also fans of the rich, robust meatballs and wonderful garlic bread topped with melted cheese.

However, what really sets Del Dee Bistro apart is the Thai menu! Yes, not only do they have the best pizza around and all your traditional Italian-American favorites, but authentic Thai food too. It's the perfect destination when someone in your party wants pizza, someone wants Italian, someone wants Thai, and nobody is willing to compromise or back down. All I've had a chance to try are the pad khii mao (sometimes referred to elsewhere as pad kee mao or "drunken noodles," my #1 go-to Thai dish anywhere I go) and the Thai iced tea, which is hands-down, without a doubt the BEST Thai iced tea I've had at any Thai restaurant in Orlando.

The dining room at Del Dee is very small and homey, with a few tables arrayed in one open room, but we just tend to get takeout more often, since we don't live far from there. Either way, service is always friendly and fast, and the prices are extremely reasonable, especially for such good pizza. Del Dee Bistro is not fancy or pretentious at all -- it is truly a family operation, owned by a wonderful, kind, friendly Italian husband and his Thai wife, and everyone who works there (including their daughter) is so sweet and nice. I can't say enough good things about them and their food, and I hope everyone local gives them a chance. They've made us feel like regulars (which I love) and most of all, valued customers, which is rare and always appreciated.
