Deep-fried smelts

A number of years ago, when I used to frequent Clement Street, a Chinese take-out place around 5th Ave. prepared one of my favorite snacks: deep-fried smelts. Today, finding myself in that neighborhood, I was looking forward to a small bagful of them to munch on while I went about my business. Alas, nothing is forever, and the place I remembered is now a restaurant.

Which brings me to the point of this message: to the best knowledge of Chowhoundhood, does anyone still make take-out deep-fried smelts in SF or the Peninsula?
