How do you decide between 10 or 12 inch skillet when usually cooking for one?

How do you decide between 10 or 12 inch skillet when usually cooking for one? This has been asked several times here and the old threads skew to 12 inches, reasoning it's better to have a little more space when you need it. I've been mainly using a 10 inch skillet for the longest time, but my thought is I'd rather have an 8 inch when doing something simple with a single piece of protein like a chicken breast, fish fillet or 200g cut of steak for one (or eggs!), but I'd rather have a 12 inch when doing a saute or stir fry with vegetables, to have more room to spread out the vegetables and ensure they come into contact with the oil and pan.

I know there's no answer and really depends what you do weekly, but how do you guys think this one through assuming you had to choose between 10 and 12 inch?
