Any Decent Meat Thermometers?

Pressingham | Nov 26, 200504:53 PM     2

Over the past decade I've ruined at least a dozen "instant read" digital thermometers and analog-dial types as some kind of Thanksgiving tradition. I have yet to find one that doesn't have wood or plastic on it somewhere, or a cheaply sealed glass that fogs.
Is there a good product for in-oven use so you don't have to keep opening the oven door periodicaly and lose heat during many quick test jabs? And is there one that is anywhere near accurate (not this 'rare', 'med' 'well done' blinking LED junk)? A good one would be worth it,
since all the cheap ones cost $3-40 each for one sad test.
And nope.... I can't afford a fancy new oven with a built-in thermopile probe and an external panel display.
Any brands worth suggesting?
