The only decent food i found was that bought from the roadside, or the small establishments away from the tourist areas.
4 out of 7 Restaurants i went to in the space of 7 days were all lacking in freshness and taste.
One expects a restaurant to at LEAST serve traditionally cooked fresh, food and at best, combine traditional dishes on the menue, with less traditional traditional dishes with a modern or inventive twist. Neither i found, was the case.
So my only rule while eating in JA was external observation. Were the locals eating there? or was it populated with people wearing bermuda shorts and loud shirts? If the former were true, i found that i was never disappointed. And definitly the BEST meals i ate were those that were served on the raodside on paper plates and handed to me with plastic fork.
