Decent food in an ARTSY SETTING?

strong, silent type | Dec 14, 2004 12:31 PM

Hi Chowhound Gang,

I am entertaining a good friend of mine from out-of-town. She loves interesting art (weird sculptures, hanging mobiles, unusual architecture). Is there any place to eat with decent food AND in a very cool-looking, avant-garde-type setting??

I know it seems like asking for a lot. But she is really appreciative of an unusual, artsy environment.

Would THE RED CAT in Chelsea fit the bill?

I don't want to take her to eat in a museum restaurant because they tend to be: a) too loud and crowded; or 2) serving extremely mediocre food.

Thanks, Guys!
